HR software in Ambala for small manufacturers
Offrd is HR software for the size of firm Ambala actually runs: instrument makers, traders and workshops under 40 people. Setup takes about two minutes. 50 free credits come with signup.
Ambala supplies scientific instruments to school and college labs across India, mostly from workshops of 10 to 40 people. Rather than list features, here is a year in the life of one such firm, a 28 person instruments workshop, on Offrd. The firm is a composite, not a named customer. The workflows are exactly how the product runs.

What should a joining kit collect on day one?
Permanent account number, Aadhaar, bank details, the universal account number if the person has worked before, educational and previous employment proof, nominee details for provident fund and gratuity, and the signed appointment letter. Add the previous employer income declaration where the person joins mid year, because the tax deduction for the rest of the year depends on it.
Collecting these on day one takes twenty minutes. Collecting them in June, when Form 16 is being prepared, takes weeks.
How does maternity leave affect payroll and records?
The benefit is paid at the average daily wage for the three months preceding, so the payroll entry is not simply the last monthly salary. Provident fund continues. The leave does not draw down the earned leave balance, and treating it as ordinary leave is a payroll error rather than a policy choice.
Keeping the maternity record separate in the attendance register is what makes the eighty day eligibility check possible later.
Frequently asked questions
Which district handles filings for Ambala?
In Ambala. Filings for a Ambala employer go to offices appointed for that district rather than for the town.
Who collects professional tax from a Ambala employer?
Not levied in Haryana
Why does the previous employer income matter at joining?
Because the new employer has to consider it when computing tax deducted at source for the rest of the year. Without the declaration, the deduction is understated and the employee faces a demand when the return is filed.
One workshop, one year, on Offrd
April: signup
The owner registers the company, imports the staff list by CSV and sets each person's CTC. The salary structures balance themselves. Time spent: one evening, most of it deciding designations that were never written down.
May: the letter backlog clears
Eleven old workers never got appointment letters. The labour codes have required them since November 2025. All eleven generate in one sitting, mostly on the free credits.
July: two hires before the school season
Lab equipment orders rise before academic sessions. Sixty applications come in for two assembler posts. Pre-Hire scores and ranks them, the owner interviews five, and both offer letters go out the day he decides. The joiners upload Aadhaar, PAN and bank details from their phones.
August: attendance leaves the register
A QR code goes up at the workshop door. The two service engineers who install equipment at colleges check in by GPS from site. The muster finally matches reality, and month end payroll takes one evening. Payslips carry EPF and ESI done to the ceilings. No professional tax, because Haryana levies none.
November: confirmations and increments
The July hires get confirmation letters in one click. Diwali increments become letters instead of verbal promises, generated as a batch, each recorded against the employee.
February: one exit, done properly
A fitter of nine years leaves for a family business. His full and final calculates from the same salary heads as his payslip, gratuity by the formula. The settlement letter carries a reference ID. He leaves with clean paper, and so does the firm.
March: year end
Form 16 for each employee generates from the TRACES Part A and the locked tax declarations. The CA gets EPF ready payroll files. Total document spend for the year: less than one old consultant invoice.
Why not a bigger HRMS?
Because a 28 person workshop will never open half its tabs. Appraisal cycles, engagement dashboards, expense modules: paid for, configured never. Offrd keeps to documents, payroll, attendance, simple leave, a guided policy builder for POSH and conduct, Form 16 at year end, and resume screening when hiring. That is the whole product. Rs 99 a document, or Rs 50 per employee a month.
More than 4,000 Indian companies run on this scope, described in full on the India wide product page. Haryana's own rules, the Rs 35 and Rs 70 Labour Welfare Fund amounts and the rest, sit on the Haryana hub along with nine more city pages.
Asked by Ambala firms
We are nine people. Is this overkill?
At nine people you would use pay per document: Rs 99 when you need a letter, nothing in the months you do not. The 50 free credits may cover your documents for a long while.
Our service engineers travel to colleges. How is their day marked?
They check in by GPS from the site they are visiting. If certain campuses are regular, those can be set as locations. Their days land in the same muster as the workshop's QR check ins.
What happens to our old letters and files?
They stay where they are. Nothing needs migrating. Documents you generate from now on are branded PDFs you download and keep, alongside the old paper.
Who sees salary details? That is sensitive in a small town.
Payslips and letters go to the employee they belong to, and records are managed from the admin account. Salary details are not visible to the shop floor.
Our offers need unusual terms about tools and training bonds. Possible?
The letter editor lets you adjust the content before sending, with AI assistance if you want a clause reworded. The statutory salary arithmetic stays computed underneath.
