HR Software in India, Explained by Price and Company Size

HR software takes over the paperwork of employing people in India: offer letters, payslips, attendance, leave, and the EPF, ESI, and professional tax maths behind them. Offrd does this for growing companies at ₹99 per document, or ₹50 per active employee per month, with 50 free credits and setup under 2 minutes.

Trusted by 4,000+ companies across 350+ cities in India. SoftwareSuggest Customer Choice and Best Support, Winter 2025.

What does HR software cover for an Indian SME?

Five things, in practice. Documents: offer letters, appointment letters, increments, warnings, relieving letters, and the full and final settlement at exit. Payroll: a monthly cycle where every payslip carries the right EPF, ESI, and professional tax figures. Attendance: who worked, from where, without a register at the front desk. Leave: requests that go to one manager and get answered. Policies: POSH, leave rules, and a handbook you can actually hand to a new joiner.

Search calls this category many names: hr management software, hr manager software, hr systems software, software for human resource management, human resource tools. They all point at the same job, keeping employment paperwork correct without a specialist on the payroll. The statutory part is not optional. EPF contributions run at 12% from employer and employee, ESI at 3.25% and 0.75% on gross wages, and the Labour Codes took effect on 21 November 2025. Software that gets those numbers wrong is a liability with a login screen.

HR software for 20 people is not HR software for 400

Most comparison content skips this, and it is the single most useful thing to know before you buy. A 400 person company needs OKR cycles, a deep recruitment pipeline, engagement surveys, and an implementation team to wire it all together. The big Indian suites are built for that buyer, and priced for them too.

A company of 5 to 75 people is a different purchase. There is usually one HR person, often part time, sharing a desk with admin or accounts. Hiring happens in spurts, a few people a quarter. Nobody runs 360 feedback. What this buyer needs is the basics done fast and done right, not a procurement gauntlet followed by six weeks of configuration for modules that will sit unopened.

That mismatch is where money leaks. You pay a monthly floor sized for 50 seats when you have 14. You pay for a human resource system software stack where you will use a fifth of it. Offrd takes the opposite bet: cover documents, payroll, attendance, leave, and policies well, charge per document or per active employee, and skip the rest. Setup is under 2 minutes because there is nothing baroque to configure.

What does HR software cost in India?

Entry prices below are from each vendor's own pricing page, checked August 2026. Most platforms price per month with an employee floor, so the real question is what you pay at your headcount, not the sticker.

The best HR software in India, by what you actually need

No single platform is best for every company, whatever the ads say. This is the honest short list.

01

Offrd

For growing companies and SMEs under 100 people who want documents, payroll, attendance, leave, and policies handled without a monthly floor. See how it stacks up in the Keka vs Offrd comparison.

02

greytHR

Choose them if deep statutory filing support is your main need. They have been at this since 1994 and the compliance engine shows it. The greytHR vs Offrd comparison covers where each one earns its keep.

03

Cloud based HR software, without the enterprise weight

Everything on this page runs in the cloud. Admin work happens in the browser: generate a letter, run payroll, approve leave, from any machine with a login. Nothing to install, nothing to back up on an office PC that one person knows how to restart.

Attendance is the part that has to live on a phone, so it does. The Atndnz app comes bundled free with Offrd and handles QR check in, GPS and geofenced attendance for field staff, and syncs straight into payroll. For teams asking about hr apps or hr cloud based software, that pairing, web admin plus a mobile attendance app, is the whole answer.

It also travels well beyond the metros. Offrd is used in 350+ cities, with dedicated pages for Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata, an index of HR software across Indian metros, and a state by state hub. If your sector shapes your HR work, start from HR software by industry in India.

Where the depth sits, feature by feature

A pillar page is a poor place for a feature tour, so here is the ledger instead. Each of these pages goes deep on one job: payroll software for India, attendance management software, employee onboarding software, and the HR policy generator. The full set lives at the features index.

If you are still mapping the terrain, two plain guides help: payroll processing in India and the HR documents every Indian employer needs. And three calculators do the maths your candidates will ask about anyway: CTC vs in hand salary, PF contributions, and gratuity.
