An employee self service portal that lives in one phone app

Offrd's employee self service portal is the Atndnz mobile app. Each employee opens it to see their payslips, their HR letters, their profile, and their attendance history. It is the same app they use to check in, so there is no second login to manage. The app is free with Offrd, which is built for Indian companies with up to 250 employees and costs ₹50 per active employee per month, or credit packs from ₹99 for 10 credits.

Trusted by 4,000+ companies across 350+ cities in India. Named a Top HR and Payroll Company to Watch 2025 in the Insights Success Asia Excellence Awards.

What should an ESS portal do for a growing company?

Open the feature page of a large HRMS and the ESS section can read like a restaurant menu: claims, travel requests, tickets, surveys, declarations, a social feed. Each item has a reason to exist in a company of two thousand people with an HR team to administer it. In a company of forty, most of that sprawl sits untouched while someone in HR still spends Monday morning resending last month's payslip.

Look at what employees in a growing company actually ask HR for, week after week, and the list is terse. A copy of a payslip, usually for a loan or a rental agreement. A copy of an offer or increment letter. Whether they were marked present on a particular day. And a way to check what the company has on file about them. That covers most of the traffic, and it is rote work for whoever answers it.

So the useful question is not how many modules an employee self service portal has. It is whether the four lookups your people make most often are answered without a message to HR. Offrd's ESS was built around that scant, honest list, and it stops there on purpose.

What can employees see in the ESS app?

Everything below sits in the Atndnz app, which is the employee side of Offrd. HR works in the Offrd web app; employees work on their phone. That split is the whole scaffold.

Payslips

Every payslip HR generates in Offrd is visible to that employee in the app. This is the request that eats the most HR time in most offices, because a payslip is the document banks and landlords often ask for. Once employees know where to look, the "can you send me March again" message tends to dry up.

HR letters

The letters HR issues to an employee through Offrd are visible in the app too. Offrd generates offer letters, probation letters, increment letters, and separation letters such as experience and relieving letters, and keeps a history of the letters issued to each person. For the employee, it means their own paper trail is in their pocket rather than buried in an old inbox thread.

Attendance history

An attendance calendar shows each employee their own history and monthly patterns. It answers the brisk, perennial question of whether a given day was recorded, without anyone opening a report on the admin side.

Profile

Profile management is in the app, so employees can see the details the company holds for them. HR keeps the master record in the Offrd employee directory, which is where archiving, bulk upload, and the audit trail live.

How do payslips and letters reach the ESS app?

Nothing appears in the app unbidden. HR produces each document in Offrd first, and the table below traces the path for each thing an employee can see. It is a short lattice, and that is the point: fewer handoffs, fewer places for a document to go missing.

Where each item in the Offrd employee self service app comes from

The payroll side deserves a sentence of detail, since it feeds the item people open most. HR picks a month in Offrd payroll, generates the cycle for the whole team, and adjusts day counts, earnings, or deductions in a grid that recalculates as you type. EPF, ESI, and state professional tax come from the settings you already made. When the cycle is ready, the dispatcher opens a Confirm Email Addresses modal listing every recipient, with a per row edit, before anything is sent. A mistyped address is caught at that checkpoint, not after a payslip lands in a stranger's inbox.

If you only need the slips and not the full cycle, the payslip generator page covers that route, including the Standard and Classic templates with your logo and address. The first payslip for each employee is free.

Letters follow the same logic. HR picks a template, fills or edits the content, and sends through the same email dispatcher with a verification prompt. Once it is issued, the employee can look it up in the app instead of asking for another copy.

Why do check in and self service share one app?

Many ESS portals fail for a humdrum reason. Employees log in once during onboarding, forget the password, and never return. The portal becomes a threadbare, forgotten corner of the HR system that only HR ever sees.

Offrd sidesteps that by putting self service in the app employees already open to mark attendance. The founder's reasoning was plain: keep it clean and simple, one app for the employee, not a separate portal login. If your team checks in on Atndnz every working day, their payslips and letters are one tap away from something they already do. The habit is already formed, so the self service part rides on its cadence.

On the check in side, briefly: employees can check in at the office by scanning a QR code at the entrance, as remote workers, or as field staff with a GPS tagged check in against a service location within a 500 m radius, and biometric devices can feed the same record. The full set of modes, shifts, geofences, and reports is on the attendance management software page, so it is not repeated here. For a working day in the app from the employee's side, see the employee attendance app.

For companies that hire steadily, one more dovetail matters. New joiners fill their own joining form through a separate candidate portal during employee onboarding. Once HR approves the form and converts the candidate to an employee in Offrd, the joining paperwork is done. From the day they are on your Atndnz roster, the app is their foothold for everything on this page.

What does the Offrd ESS app not do?

Candor now saves you a bad purchase and a tedious migration later. Here is what an employee can and cannot do in the app today. The left column is a list of things people commonly expect from an ESS portal in India; the right column is the truthful answer for Offrd.

Employee self service tasks and whether the Offrd Atndnz app covers them

Offrd has no reimbursement or helpdesk module, so neither appears in the app. If your company runs those through a spreadsheet or a shared inbox today, that can carry on alongside Offrd. If you need both in one employee portal, a larger HR suite will fit you better, and that is a reasonable choice to make.

What you get in exchange is a tractable app. There is little to train people on and little to configure. Less can break during a busy payroll week, which is when brittle software tends to show its seams.

What does an employee self service app cost with Offrd?

The Atndnz app is free for Offrd users. You pay for Offrd, in one of two ways, and can switch plans anytime.

Pay as you go starts at ₹99 for 10 credits. Subscription is ₹50 per active employee per month, billed monthly, with no minimum employee requirement. Signup gives you 50 free credits with no card, and setup takes under 2 minutes. The employee directory costs nothing to use, so keeping records current carries no meter.

Atndnz is also sold standalone at ₹9 per employee per month in India, with a 60 day free trial. That covers attendance. The payslips and letters in the app come from Offrd, so a company that wants the full ESS picture described here should run payroll and letters in Offrd.

To see where the employee record starts, read the employee database software page. For the wider sketch of what Offrd generates, from offer letter to full and final settlement, the HR document generation features page is the index.

Questions about the ESS app

What is an employee self service portal?

It is the part of an HR system that employees open themselves, so they can look up their own records without asking HR. In Offrd, that surface is the Atndnz mobile app, where each employee sees their payslips, their HR letters, their profile, and their attendance history.

Is there a separate ESS portal login for employees?

No. Offrd keeps employee self service inside the Atndnz app on purpose, to keep it clean and simple. The same app your team uses to check in also holds their payslips and letters, so there is one app for the employee rather than a second portal.

How do payslips get into the ESS app?

HR runs the monthly cycle in Offrd payroll and generates payslips for everyone in bulk. Before the email goes out, a Confirm Email Addresses step lists every recipient so HR can fix any address. The same payslips are visible to each employee in the Atndnz app.

What does the ESS app cost?

The Atndnz app is free for Offrd users. Offrd itself runs on credit packs from ₹99 for 10 credits, or ₹50 per active employee per month on subscription, with no minimum headcount. Signup comes with 50 free credits and needs no card.

Can Atndnz be used on its own as an ESS app?

Atndnz is sold standalone at ₹9 per employee per month in India, with a 60 day free trial. Payslips and HR letters come from Offrd, though, so a company that wants those in the app should run its payroll and letters in Offrd, where Atndnz is included free.

Offrd's employee self service covers payslips, HR letters, profile, and attendance history in the Atndnz app. It does not cover reimbursements or a helpdesk. Questions before you start? Write to service@offrd.co.
