Employee attendance app for Indian teams
Offrd's employee attendance app, Atndnz, puts check in on each person's phone. At the office they scan the QR at the entrance, at home they choose Remote Work, and in the field they check in GPS tagged within 500 m of a service location. It is free for Offrd users, or ₹9 per employee per month standalone. Offrd is built for Indian companies with up to 250 employees.
Trusted by 4,000+ companies across 350+ cities in India. Named a Top HR and Payroll Company to Watch 2025 in the Insights Success Asia Excellence Awards.
What does a working day look like in the employee attendance app?
Most attendance software is sold to HR and described from HR's chair. This page takes the other seat. It follows one employee through three kinds of day, because the app asks for something different on each, and those first seconds decide how clean the month's ledger will be.
Which modes a person sees is not their choice. HR switches on office, remote and field work in any combination for the company, then assigns a work mode and a shift to each employee on the roster. A receptionist may only ever see Office. A sales lead who splits the week between a desk and client visits may see all three.
| Kind of day | What the employee does | What gets recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Office day | Chooses Office and scans the QR code posted at the entrance | A check in against that office location, with the time |
| Home day | Chooses Remote Work | A remote check in, under the radius HR set for that mode |
| Field day | Chooses Field Work, selects a saved service location, checks in within 500 m of it | A GPS tagged check in, with coordinates verified on Google Maps |
On an office day the QR does the demarcation. It sits at the entrance, so a scan says the phone, and in all likelihood its owner, was at the door at that minute.
Home days are the lightest touch. The employee picks Remote Work and starts. HR sets the geofence radius per work mode, so remote attendance carries its own setting and does not borrow the office rule.
The field day is where a terse rule does most of the work. The employee does not type an address. They select one of the service locations HR has already saved with latitude and longitude, and the check in only counts within 500 m of it. A site engineer standing in the client's car park is fine. The same engineer at home across town is not.
What does the screen show between check in and check out?
Once the check in lands, a live timer starts and the status reads Currently Working. That timer is the part people glance at most. It answers the one question an employee actually has at four in the afternoon: how long have I been on the clock today?
Stepping away is explicit rather than assumed. The employee pauses and picks a break duration, and the status changes to On Break. The app keeps active work time and break time as separate figures, so a long lunch shows up as break time instead of quietly shrinking into a scant working day nobody can explain later.
| On screen | What it tells the employee |
|---|---|
| Live timer | Time on the clock so far today |
| Status | Currently Working, On Break, or Not Working |
| Pause with break duration | The break they chose and how long it runs |
| Active vs break split | Working time and break time, kept apart |
| Today's Activity | A summary of the day so far |
| Shift | The shift HR assigned to them |
| Late tag | Added automatically when check in comes after shift start, beyond the grace period |
People quibble about the Late tag, so here is how it works. HR names each shift and sets a grace period in minutes. The tag follows from those two settings. It is not a manager's mood on a bad morning; it is a rule the employee can read on their own screen, a kind of candor a paper register never had.
Why is proxy punching harder with this attendance application?
Anyone searching for an attendance register app is usually trying to retire a book at reception, the kind where one friend can sign for another. Moving that register onto phones only helps if a phone check in is harder to fake than a signature. Offrd stacks a few layers for that.
The 500 m proximity rule. A field check in counts only within 500 m of a saved service location, and the coordinates are verified against Google Maps.
A geofence per location. HR saves each location with latitude and longitude and gives it its own radius. The radius can also differ by work mode, and locations can sit in more than one country.
The QR at the entrance. An office check in means scanning the code at the door, which ties the record to a physical spot rather than to a claim.
Optional SIM binding. SIM binding is a company setting HR can switch on or off. For teams where handsets get passed around, it adds one more hurdle.
Biometric devices, where you have them. Fingerprint and face scanners sync their punches into the app, so those records sit beside phone check ins rather than in a separate ledger.
None of this makes proxy attendance impossible. A determined pair of colleagues can still find a way. What the lattice of checks does is turn a two second favour into a deliberate effort, and for most teams that is enough to make the habit fade.
What else can an employee open in the same app?
The attendance app for employees is also where they look up their own record. Four things live there, and it is worth being exact about the list.
Attendance history. A calendar view of past days, with monthly patterns.
Profile. Their own profile, managed in the app.
Payslips and HR letters. The payslips and letters HR issues in Offrd are visible to the employee in the same app. So the letters HR has issued them and last month's payslip sit in the same app as the morning check in, not in an email thread from months ago. Our page on the employee self service portal sets out this self service scope in more detail.
That is the whole of it. Employees cannot, for instance, edit their pay or change their shift from the app; those stay with HR.
What about a day someone forgot to check in? Speak to HR before payroll closes, since HR controls the day counts that go into the month's pay. The general practice of correcting such a record has a name, attendance regularization, and our glossary entry explains how teams usually handle it.
What does HR see, and how does the month reach payroll?
This page is about the employee, so the admin side gets a sketch rather than a tour. HR works in the web admin at atndnz.offrd.co, with the same login as Offrd for paid customers.
The front screen is a live Today's Log: each employee, their location, the entry and exit gate and time, and working hours, with sorting and filters, per location IN and OUT counts, time zone tags, and an hourly in and out chart. Company configuration is where the rules the employee feels get set: work modes, named shifts, grace minutes, geofence radius per work mode, standard and maximum working hours, SIM binding, holiday calendars per location (national, regional by state, and optional), and which HR addresses are copied on attendance notifications. Reports cover the Attendance Log with CSV export, Attendance Summary, Monthly Attendance, Field Work Attendance, and a Geofence Report. The attendance management software page walks through that side properly.
Attendance matters because of pay. In Offrd, each payroll month opens as an Excel style grid where day counts per employee can be edited, and Gross Monthly Salary, Total Deductions and Net Payable recalculate in real time. Pay can run on Calendar Days or Working Days. When the run is done, payslips go out through the email dispatcher, which lists every recipient for a check before anything is sent, and the employee then finds that payslip back in the same app where their check ins live. For EPF, ESI and professional tax handling, see our payroll software page.

Questions employees and HR ask about the attendance app
What is an employee attendance app?
It is a phone app where each employee records their own check in and working time, in place of a register at reception. In Offrd the app is Atndnz: office QR, Remote Work, or GPS tagged Field Work check in, with a live timer and break tracking through the day.
Can employees mark attendance from home?
Yes, if HR has switched on Remote Work for them. The employee picks Remote Work when checking in. HR sets the geofence radius per work mode, so Remote Work carries its own setting, separate from office and field.
How does the app make proxy attendance harder?
Field check ins only count within 500 m of the selected service location, and coordinates are verified against Google Maps. Office check ins mean scanning the QR at the entrance. HR can also switch on SIM binding. None of this is foolproof, but it asks far more of a cheat than a shared register does.
Can employees see their payslips in the attendance app?
Yes. Along with their attendance history and profile, employees can see their payslips and HR letters in the app. That is the full scope of employee self service in Offrd today.
When does the app mark a check in as Late?
HR names each shift and sets a grace period in minutes. A check in that comes after shift start, beyond that grace period, gets an automatic Late tag, and the employee can see their shift on screen.
Is the employee attendance app free with Offrd?
Yes, it is free for Offrd users. Standalone, Atndnz costs ₹9 per employee per month in India, with a 60 day free trial and no card. Offrd itself runs on credit packs from ₹99 for 10 credits, or ₹50 per active employee per month, with 50 free credits on signup.
The employee attendance app records where and when people work and shows them their own attendance history, profile, payslips and HR letters. Offrd calculates payroll and exports EPF data; your CA files the statutory returns.
