HR and payroll software for Gangtok businesses

Offrd runs HR and payroll for small companies in Gangtok. Offer letters, onboarding, and payslips take minutes, with EPF, ESI, gratuity, and Sikkim professional tax handled in the calculation. Attendance and leave sit alongside them. You start with 50 free credits and pay only when you generate a document.

Setup under two minutes. Runs in a browser and on your team's phones.

A Gangtok HR list that never gets shorter

Gangtok runs on small operators. A hotel off MG Marg, a homestay up the ridge, a travel desk, a cafe or bakery, an organic food brand, a shop, a clinic. Sikkim became India's first fully organic state in 2016, and that has pulled food and farm businesses into the mix alongside tourism and a few manufacturing units on the valley floor.

Most of these places carry no HR person. The owner signs the offer, the accountant patches the payslip, and attendance sits in a register at the front desk. It holds together until the season turns and ten things need doing at once. Then the cracks show.

The spread is wider than tourism. The organic shift pulled in food and farm brands, small dairies, tea and spice packers, and pharmaceutical units that run proper shift work. A guesthouse, a packing line, and a clinic keep different hours. Yet all of them need the same spine: a correct payslip, a clean attendance record, and a letter that holds up. That is the gap Offrd fills, whatever the trade.

Where the week actually goes

A handful of knots come up again and again in a Gangtok business, and they are rarely the glamorous part of running one. Each has a plain fix inside Offrd, so the admin stops eating into the hours you would rather spend with guests or stock.

01

The season swings, and headcount swings with it

High season fills the rota, then the lean months empty it. Offers and exit letters cluster around the turn.

Issue offers and full and final letters in bulk from one record, and pay per document so a quiet month costs nothing.

02

Attendance is in one book, payroll in another

Front desk, kitchen, and field staff sign a register, then someone retypes it into a sheet at month end.

Atndnz records a QR or location check in, and the payslip reads that same data without a second entry.

03

The payslip has to be exact

EPF, ESI, gratuity, and Sikkim professional tax each follow their own rule, and a slip invites a notice.

Offrd computes all four from the figures you enter, the same way every month.

04

Nobody got around to the POSH policy

The 2013 harassment law needs an Internal Committee and a written policy once you reach ten employees.

The policy builder drafts POSH, leave, and conduct from a short questionnaire, in your company name.

05

Letters and records scatter across laptops

Offers sit in one inbox, payslips on a desktop, the leave count in a chat thread. When someone leaves, the trail breaks.

Offrd holds every document and record in one account, exportable as a CSV or a PDF whenever you want it.

Does Offrd handle Sikkim professional tax and EPF?

Yes. Sikkim levies professional tax under the Sikkim Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 2006. Pay below 20,000 rupees a month is exempt, and above that the slab applies and has to show on the payslip. Offrd carries the right figure into each one.

Around it sits the rest of the statutory maths. EPF at 12 percent each side, ESI at 3.25 percent employer and 0.75 percent employee on wages up to 21,000 rupees, and gratuity from basic pay. You set the numbers once in a structured HR document and the calculation repeats cleanly. Gratuity is taken from basic, so a cook or a manager who has stayed with you for years is costed correctly at exit, not guessed at.

On filing, the line is honest. Offrd produces the figures and export ready files. The professional tax return goes to the Sikkim Commercial Taxes Division, your EPF return to EPFO, and ESI to ESIC, and your accountant files those. Offrd just makes the handover tidy.

The Labour Codes are worth a note too. They took effect on 21 November 2025, made a written appointment letter standard, and fixed basic pay at half of total wages. Offrd builds salary on that 50 percent basic rule, so your letters start on solid ground. The text sits at the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Onboarding when your team rotates with the season

Tourism work churns. People join for a season, move on, and sometimes return the next year. That rhythm makes slow onboarding expensive, because you pay the cost again and again. A form that takes twenty minutes a head becomes a lost morning when ten people start in the same week.

Offrd keeps it short. A new hire submits Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details online before the first shift, and you approve them in the platform. A returning worker is already on file. The morning is about the floor, not a clipboard. Unlike the states further east, Sikkim is open to Indian travellers without an Inner Line Permit, so your hiring net can run wider, and the document side keeps up either way.

Field roles fit this too. A travel desk with guides and drivers spread across the district can mark attendance with a location check, so you see who started where without a round of calls. Their record lands in the same place as the front desk team's, and the month end payslip reads from all of it.

When the season ends, the exit reads from the same record as the offer. Increment letters, confirmations after probation, and the settlement all share the salary heads, so the figures hold from the first day to the last. You can create a sample offer letter to see the output before you sign up.

What it costs

Two routes, and you choose by the month. Pay per document at 99 rupees, with nothing due in a month you stay quiet. Or take the subscription at 50 rupees per active employee a month when the floor is full and volume is steady. Every account opens with 50 free credits, so a real offer and a real payslip cost you nothing to try.

A short example makes it concrete. Issue eight documents in a slow month, say two offers, two payslips for new joiners, and a few letters, and that is 792 rupees on the pay per document plan. In peak season with thirty active staff, the subscription at 50 rupees each is 1,500 rupees a month and covers every document you produce. You sit on whichever route runs lower.

For a business with a peaky calendar, that flexibility is the point. You are not carrying a fixed bill through the off season, and you are not buying review cycles or an applicant pipeline you would never switch on. The pricing plans show both routes, and the support team will help you pick. Attendance through the Atndnz app is included on a paid plan.

Questions Gangtok owners ask

We hire heavily for the season. Does the pricing punish that?

No. On the pay per document plan you spend only when you issue a letter or a payslip, so the lean months are cheap. When the floor fills, the per employee subscription often works out lower, and you can switch between the two.

Can it cope with a mix of roles, from front desk to housekeeping?

Yes. You issue the right letter for each role, from a seasonal cook to a manager who stays all year, and run one payslip cycle for the team. Attendance is marked the same way across roles, so the monthly record stays clean for an audit.

Is our staff and salary data easy to move out?

It is. You import staff from a CSV and export everything back out the same way, payroll history included in EPF return formats. Documents are PDFs you download and keep. There is no lock in.

Is Offrd a known product?

Offrd is used by 4,000+ companies in 350+ cities across India and has won SoftwareSuggest awards for customer choice and support. For a Gangtok owner weighing a new tool, that track record and the no lock in policy take most of the risk out.

Will it run on a slow Gangtok connection?

Yes. The screens are light and work in a browser or on a phone, so you do not need a fast line to issue a letter or open a payslip. Attendance marks from the Atndnz app, which keeps the data small even when the signal is thin.
