What the New Labour Codes 2025 mean for architecture and interior design firms

India has moved to four central Labour Codes that combine earlier laws on wages, social security, safety and industrial relations. Architecture and interior design studios that hire interns, site supervisors, draughtsmen or contract staff are also covered. This section gives a practical view of what typically changes for small studios.

50 percent rule for wages — Under the Code on Wages, basic wage usually needs to be at least 50 percent of total wages. When basic is too low in the structure, it can affect PF, ESI and overtime calculation.
Attendance and working hour records — The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code expects proper attendance and working hour records for all employees, including site staff.
PF and ESI deductions — Under the Social Security Code, once PF or ESI is deducted from salary it must be deposited correctly and on time. Non payment after deduction is treated seriously and can attract stronger penalties for repeat cases.
Appointment, wage slip and exit documents — Studios are expected to issue clear appointment letters, wage slips and exit documents so that wages and service terms are traceable in case of dispute or inspection.
Penalties that can affect small studios — For different offences under the Codes, penalties can move from smaller amounts around ₹10,000 for first record keeping failures to higher amounts in the lakh range, and stricter action if issues repeat or involve social security deductions not deposited.

How Offrd helps your studio stay ready for the new Codes

Offrd does not replace legal advice, but it helps you keep the wage structure, documents and records in better shape so that your CA or labour law advisor can review everything without hunting through scattered files.

Default 50 percent basic configuration — New accounts are set up with basic at 50 percent of wages in standard structures, which helps align with the wage code requirement. Configurations can be reviewed with your advisor.
Smart warnings for PF and ESI — When you create offer, probation or increment letters, Offrd can warn you if PF or ESI is not configured or values are zero, so you do not accidentally skip a statutory component.
Digital attendance logs from studio and sites — Attendance recorded through QR or location check-in at atndnz.offrd.co becomes part of your records, making it easier to show working days and hours if required.
Instant wage slips and letters — Payslips, offer letters, probation, increment and relieving letters follow a clean, consistent format with clear CTC breakups and statutory components visible.
All employee files in one place — Offer letters, experience letters, ID proofs and other HR documents are stored centrally, which helps during audits, disputes or due diligence.
